Kristian
Alcaide Miss Hispanic SEAFAIR 2006
Kristian's Bio:
As a twenty-one year old
Latina, born in Mexico and raised by two hard working parents
who have worked as dishwashers, house cleaners and janitors, I
have had the pleasure to live their American dream. In high school, I graduated with honors and
was heavily involved in tutoring clubs that focus on encouraging
minority students to pursue for higher education. I was also
involved in Varsity Soccer and Varsity Tennis, in which I
participated in Districts all four years of high school. In
addition, I was an active member for clubs such as Key Club (a
committee involved in projects such as Habitat for Humanity,
volunteering in homeless and elderly shelters in the community,
and recruiting high school students to go to college), FBLA
(Future Business Leaders of America) and DECA (Distributive
Education Clubs of America).
Currently I am a full-time student at the
University of Washington where through my three years of college
I have decided to pursue a degree in Law, Societies and Justice
with a Spanish minor. I chose this field of study because I
would like to become an attorney in either immigration law or
international law. I am also a part-time employee at the Law
Offices of Robert B. Gould where I have gained knowledge in
legal researching and more importantly, strengthened my
articulation and writing skills. I am also an active member of
MTT (Minority Think Tank: aids in spreading diversity on the
University of Washington’s campus by arranging cultural events
off and on campus with the help of other cultural groups at the
UW), the UW Senate Committee, Amnesty International and MECHA (Movimiento
Estudiantil Chicana/Chicano de Aztlan).
