Alyssa Denise Garza is the daughter of Heleodoro Garza Jr. and Nora Garza. Along with her three sisters, Candice, Kristynn and Lindsay, she was born and raised in eastern Washington. Alyssa is 19, and finishing her sophomore year at the University of Washington. Being recently admitted to the Business School, she is majoring in Human Resources with a possible minor in Spanish. This summer she will be interning for the third time with the Boeing Company, as well as being a member of the ALVA program. For the past two years she has been involved with HBSA, and will be the 2008-2009 Chief Development Officer for the Hispanic Student Business Association (HBSA). She is an active member of the INN at University Presbyterian Church. Along with school activities, she keeps busy working part time at the Waterfront Activities Center of the University of Washington. Alyssa is a gym rat, health nut, and a very focused person who loves spending time with her family.

Ashley Salazar - First Runner up ()

My name is Ashley Salazar.  I am 19 years old.  I just completed my freshman year at the University of Idaho. My major is in Journalism and Mass Media, where I hope to take that education and one day go into the film industry as a director. I am also a member of Phi Eta Sigma a national honor society as well as the Honors program at the University of Idaho.  I was born and raised in North Seattle. My hobbies include cross country running and photography.

Rachel Serna - Second Runner Up ()

Hi, my name is Rachel Serna, 19 years old and a Freshman at the University of Washington. I am hoping to double major in Accounting and Spanish. If in the future it is willing I hope to go back and get a teaching degree and teach Accounting and/or Spanish to high school students.       Being a first generation college student I didn’t know what to expect of college life but am enjoying it thoroughly. I am the Secretary of the Latino Student Union of the UW that outreaches to Latino students and the Hispanic Community. I also joined the UW Mariachi Quintosol as a beginner trumpet. Through the UW I do Service Learning at the Mexican Consulate in Seattle.      Besides being a student I have been involved for 6 years in a Mexican Folkloric Dance group. I am a fanatic of playing soccer & love being active. In high school, I played tennis and basketball. I am a Christian who is very passionate about church, and attend 2 of them one in English and the other in Spanish! I love my Mexican culture; both of my parents are from Mexico. I have a huge family and adore them! I’d also like to thank the Hispanic SEAFAIR Organization for giving us this opportunity to present and serve our Hispanic/Latino community!
